My teaching approach:

I have a university degree in music, and I tailor my lessons to each individual student. I use music theory and "guided practice" as teaching tools to help students reach their goals as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Gilmour, Gustav Mahler, Benny Goodman, and many others.

In a relaxed atmosphere, I allow the student simply to play, as well as to discuss his or her goals. I ask questions about the sudent's musical background and training, and together we formulate a strategy for lessons moving forward.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Consistent with my own formal training, I lesson plan for each session. Lessons are spent learning new material and perfecting additional material. I make sure a student leaves a lesson a better musician than when he or she started!

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

The ideal student is one who asks questions! Also, a student should practice consistently, and have a clear idea of what he or she wishes to accomplish.
