As a musician and a teacher I truly believe that playing music and learning to play music should be a fun experience. My approach to teaching is very unique because my musical background is different from most formally trained musicians. My roots are in classical flute. I participated in several traveling state bands in Georgia from age 9-12, while studying under a jazz saxophonist, which laid my formal foundation. My family then relocated to South Florida where I attended the Bak Middle School of Performing Arts. I studied classical and concert music with a very talented group of children affording is the opportunity to play Carnegie Hall in 2003.

At age 10 I purchased my first guitar and began the long 17 year journey with this instrument. I am a self taught guitarist which has provided me with an entirely organic experience of learning an instrument, but more importantly given me an organic experience learning about how to make music. I play because it makes me feel amazing even if no one else is around to hear it. It’s a gift that I was fortunate to receive from some amazing teachers and I want to share it with people. The one thing that has lasted through my musical career is the feeling that playing gives me. The aim of my teaching is to empower my students to make the music that makes you feel good inside. Whether you want to play for big crowds or just in your bedroom.
