About

I am a conservatory-trained voice & piano teacher. I studied at Showa Music School of the Performing Arts in Japan. I am accomplished in the performance of sonatas by Beethoven, Etudes by Chopin, and works by Rachmaninoff, as well as other classical composers, and opera, oratorio works as well. I am a professional accompanist and have been rehearsal accompanist for the Palm Beach Opera and Masterworks Chorus. I enjoy teaching students who have a strong desire to become proficient in piano performance, and singing performance as well. I have successfully prepared students for auditions to such prestigious schools as BAK Middle School and Dreyfoos School for the Performing Arts, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Florida Atlantic University, University of South Carolina School of Music. My studio includes students from West Palm Beach to Palm Beach Gardens. I am an opera singer and have performed with the Palm Beach Opera. In addition to giving piano lessons, I am also available for voice lessons. It is recommended that students who are considering a performing arts school should include both voice and piano.

I am happy to work with young children and adults as well. I look forward to building musical relationships with my students. I enjoy making music of all kinds.

Nana helped my daughter greatly by getting her into BAK Middle School of the Arts. She has evolved into a better pianist and Nana helps her exceed by showing her different ways to practice her pieces. She is very strict with getting her students to perfection but she is so sweet at the same time. If you are having trouble in a specific measure of a piece, Nana will find countless different ways to help you.

Nana is very good at teaching me with techniques in vocal abilities and I really enjoy learning a lot from her. Being with her for about 3 years, my voice has improved a lot and I really appreciate what she has been teaching me.

I began working with Nana approximately 3 years ago as an
adult 1) intermediate level piano student restarting after a 30-year hiatus and 2) vocal student with no former solo vocal instruction but great interest in assessing my own vocal skills. I am pleased to share that my experience with Nana as my piano and vocal instructor has been extremely beneficial and rewarding. I feel very fortunate to have located such a fine teacher and coach.
Nana’s musicianship, teaching experience and professionalism is outstanding.
PIANO: At the start, Nana observed and assessed my piano performance level and discussed my personal goal to continue studying classical piano. We set preliminary goals and began my preference for weekly sessions which I felt would help keep me on track. We continue to work on the development of technical skills and musical aspects with levels of music that are interesting and challenging and continue to build my classical repertoire.
VOCAL: As a novice vocal student we started from the beginning. Nana has taught me the basics of breathing, breath control, musical accuracy (also for piano) and articulation. She uses the Bel canto method; with scale training, warmups and vocal selections I have been able to develop and greatly expand my soprano range. She has made very appropriate short solo selections which are always challenging and enjoyable to learn.
As a performance artist herself, Nana is knowledgeable, experienced, and patient; she is able to clearly demonstrate and/or explain new techniques and concepts. At recitals, I have observed her with children, teens and young adults at various levels of musical competency and she clearly brings out the very best in each student.
It is very clear that Nana’s training with well known, celebrated musicians/teachers and her own professional career in piano performance and opera has been beneficial and of great value to me. I have also observed how she works with and prepares students for auditions to BAK and The Dreyfoos Schools of The Performing Arts.
Although I have a long way to go to in my musical journey Nana is best coach and guide for me. I highly recommend Nana Morimoto for piano and vocal instruction for interested students of all ages.

Nana is an amazing musician who was able to, even with prior vocal and piano knowledge, help me further improve my skills and challenge me to new songs.

    Frequently asked questions

I will meet the student and interview them to find out their musical preference. (30 minutes trial lesson is available) I believe that classical training is an important foundation for many other forms of music as pop and jazz.

A native of Kobe, Japan where, as the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, she pursued a dual major in the study of piano and voice at the Showa College of Music, the Showa School for Performing Arts, and the Japan Opera Society in Tokyo. Ms. Morimoto was privileged to study, train, and work with several opera legends including the famous Japanese tenor, Sakuzo Takada, who himself had trained under Luciano Pavarotti’s voice teacher, Arrigo Pola and concurrently studied opera score with Italian conductor and composer Gaetano Comelli.

My work as a rehearsal pianist created the opportunity to work with several eminent conductors including Anton Guadagno, Julius Rudel, and Bruno Aprea. Concurrently, she studied opera accompaniment with the esteemed Italian conductor, Massimo Morelli and worked with Carmela Altamura, Licia Albanese, and Anton Coppola in the Altamura Center in New York, the South Florida Opera Company, Miami Lyric Opera, and the Caruso International Competition.   Other accomplishments include working as the backstage conductor and prompter for numerous Palm Beach Opera’s main stage performances.

You have two choices, pay-as-you-go or pay for me every month. Monthly payments are due at the first lesson of each month.

My formal teacher sends me her students, and also some of my friends asked me to teach their children.

    Any kind of students!
