About this pro

I love teaching piano to people of all ages.  It is important for me to learn why you are interested in music.  It's wonderful to be able to teach songs to children and have them learn how to read and play music.  It's also great that adults wish to further their enjoyment of music by starting  a new skill or returning to a previous one.  It's important for me to learn about your interest, so we can work together to achieve the goals you have in mind.  I offer a free consultation visit with you before you decide about a teacher.   I am a certified member of Music Teachers National Association and the Florida State Music Teachers Association.  My college degree is in music/piano and I have been teaching for a wonderfully long time.  I hope that you will contact me for our free get together time.

"When you play music you discover a part of yourself that you never knew existed."  Bill Evans, Jazz pianist

I love interacting with all who are interested in learning more about music and playing the piano.  Music is such a wonderful way of expressing ourselves.  Teaching is the highlight of my day.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

After meeting with them for the free consultation visit, we will talk further about their musical interests.  We will discuss their preferences for their favorite kind of music, how to use their arms and hands, and ways to practice to guarantee progress.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Degree in piano from the University of Michigan and public school certification.  Over 40 years private teaching experience.  Continuing education during those years by attending conferences and seminars, and private lessons with skilled teachers.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I have fees for 30, 45, and 60 minute weekly and bi-weekly lessons.  My preferred lesson length is 45 minutes.

How did you get started teaching?

I began as a teaching assistant in the keyboard department at the University of Michigan. I have taught privately ever since then.

What types of students have you worked with?

A wide range of ages (age 5 to 82) and abilities (beginners, both children and adults,) intermediate and advanced.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Speak with the teacher and meet for a complimentary consultation visit.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are your desires or reasons for wanting to study?

What opportunities do you have for regular practice?

How will they practice if they do not have an instrument?
