About

If you’re looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, educated teacher...you’ve found one! Teaching piano is one of my favorite things to do! I enjoy students in any age group...from 4-84 years old! My specialty is beginners, but I've prepared high school seniors for the Music AP exam too. I teach: how to read music; healthy technique; keyboard harmony; music theory and history; how to practice; and how to perform.

If you want to play for others, there are many performance opportunities throughout the year. Some are adjudicated and some are just for fun! I am looking for students who want to learn and practice regularly.

I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and a Florida State Certified Teacher of Music with over 40 years of experience. I’m actively involved with both Florida State Music Teachers Association and the National Music Teachers Association. I am a Competent Communicator and Able Leader Bronze in Toastmasters Int’l. I co-authored 13 levels of workbooks in the areas of Written Theory, Aural Theory and Keyboard Skills in accordance with the Florida state theory guidelines.

Working with people who are interested in music and who want to get involved in this wonderful artistic endeavor!

After spending a year off playing piano, I was able to jump back in with a seamless transition, picking up right where I left off thanks to Ms. Gallaghers superb skill and efforts as a teacher. Through the few months Ive been back Ive learned several high-level pieces with ease thanks to her. Shes kind and understanding and knows exactly how to maximise the skill of her students.

I came to Peggy Gallagher as an adult student well into my sixties. I had already taken piano lessons in the past, but I thought Id give it another try since I always have music in my ears. What an experience it was, and still is. I found Peggy to be a knowledgeable, conscientious and outstanding teacher, and happy to say Im still with her after all these years.
Thank you for your consideration to my recommendations.
Sincerely
Salwa Zarou

When I was looking for a piano teacher who was professional but also patient and encouraging, a good friend highly recommended Peggy. So I started weekly lessons with her about two years ago. She turned out to be exactly what I was looking for: enthusiastic, knowledgeable, encouraging, and an expert instructor. Although I drive a long way for my lessons, I have always looked forward to them. Peggy has a teaching method that really works. I learn a lot during each lesson. I have steadily improved -- and just love to play and practice. I highly recommend Peggy, if you are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced piano teacher with the best attitude, greatest patience, and most enthusiasm for her work. You will not be disappointed!

My 7-year-old son, whos full of energy truly, enjoyed Ms. Gallaghers teaching style, and as a beginner, his skills quickly improved.
Ms. Gallagher is a wonderful and patient teacher and was able to adapt her lessons to the needs of my child, and she continued to keep his lessons challenging!
I would absolutely recommend Ms. Gallagher if youre considering piano classes!

I have driven over an hour to a great piano academy in Miami. My son has had 4 piano teachers because we kept searching for the best.
We found Peggy Gallagher. She is by far the best piano teacher my son has ever had and we intend to stay with her thru high school.
She is compassionate, fair, authoritative, accommodating and encouraging.
My son looks forward to coming to his (ONE hour) piano lessons.

Frequently asked questions

If they are a transfer student and have had lessons previously I would determine at what level they are playing. I will fill in the gap's in their training if there are any.  I would choose music that would guarantee their success. I will make them comfortable at their lesson, and create enthusiasm so they will return.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in piano performance, and a  post-graduate certificate of performance and piano pedagogy from FAU. I am certified at the national and state level. I have a long history of teaching in this community...40 years to be exact. I am a great communicator. Plus I like what I do!

The fee depends on how long your lessons is. With very young students I teach a 30 minute lesson at $30  per half hour. For students aged 7-14 I teach a 45 minute lesson. The cost is approximately $40 for 45 minutes. Adults prefer 60 minute lessons and the fee is $55 an hour.

I have a degree in piano performance, and it seems like a natural thing to do. I found that I enjoy teaching very much.

I've worked with 4-year-olds to 82-year-olds. I have taught groups, I've taught in pairs, and I teach private lessons. I work with students who don't practice. And I work with students would practice diligently. Of course I enjoy working with students who practice the most because the progress is so evident.

I recently started with a seven-year-old boy who has a marvelous sense of rhythm, a keen ear, and large hands for a seven-year-old. If he keeps coming to lessons and practices he will be an amazing pianist! It's wonderful to work with such talent!

I can teach anything you want to know about piano–technically as well as theortical concepts as long as you keep showing up and practice diligently each week.

They must have a daily and weekly schedule that accommodates time at the piano. Practicing is the key to success. Many people think they want to play piano but it's necessary to do the work to succeed. Are you willing to do the work?

I do try to make it fun to keep them coming back!
