At Jay’s Music Academy, LLC (JMA), we develop music enrichment programs that enhance children’s physical, social, and emotional learning. We offer music lessons for Piano, Guitar, and Voice as well as a Music Play Workshop experience for Toddlers. Since 2021, we have been teaching Music to Preschoolers, Elementary schoolers, and Middle Schoolers.

Our Child-First Music Approach enables us to teach your child through games, singing, and many creative activities such as composing, improvising, and performing. We consider the child’s musical interests and preferences in our lesson planning. This gives students a wider breadth of musicality and motivates them to practice. Students will learn the foundation of music theory (chords, finger numbers, note names, tempo, changing meters, etc.). Students will be assigned an age-appropriate curriculum where they will engage in sight-reading, transposition, composition, and much more.

Studies have shown that music education can positively impact a child’s cognitive development, academic performance, and social-emotional skills.

We are passionate and require parents' engagement in our music learning process!

    Looking for a passionate and dedicated voice and piano instructor? Youve found him! I have been doing music with Mr. Lens for the past four years and he has inspired me while helping me see my voice as an instrument. He taught me confidence in myself and the gift that I have. His focus will be on you, the student, and will help you achieve your musical goals--whether that is with singing or piano.

    PARENT COMMITMENT & SUPPORT Please understand that when committing to lessons, Jay's Music Academy is reserving a specific day/time that cannot be filled by other customers/students. Please also understand that learning an instrument takes commitment and parent support. We discuss the goal for taking music Lessons with each children and their parents which help us assess how the parents can support the child music learning journey. The goal may change over time, but this gives us a starting point.

    WHY WE DO NOT OFFER MONTH TO MONTH LESSONS Month-to-month lessons do not offer long-term value to students and parents. It does not encourage long-term commitment to learning music. JMA offers a 3-month (about a semester) trial program to parents who are interested in our program but aren’t ready to jump in yet fully.

    Mr. Jay was introduced to teaching in his early college years at Pace University in New York City.  He started as a substitute teacher in 2006 and his passion for teaching grew from there. . He has experience teaching Music in both elementary and middle schools as well as private and studio settings.

    At JMA we primarily teach preschoolers, elementary and middle schoolers (Ages 2-13);

    We believe that Music is an important component of a well-rounded education. It complements your child’s academic studies and promotes healthy development. In addition, if you observe that your child is highly interested in music and singing, it is a sign of a passion that needs to be nurtured.

    Mr. Jay had the honor and pleasure of serving as the "Assistant Vocal Coach" for Renaissance Charter School's rendition of "The Little Mermaid" at the Sunrise Theater in Fort Pierce FL. Truly a wonderful experience getting to work along side such amazing children and young adults on and off the stage!

    At JMA, our advice to parents is to support your child creativity by finding a teacher who can partner with you to nurture it. This is where our Child-First Music Approach comes to play. We learn about your child's music interest and style. Then, we include it into our Music Lessons Plan. Children are natural at learning Music. It is all about making it relevant to them. We do our best to make music learning relevant and create a positive social emotional learning experience for our student.

    ● Ask your child why he or she interested in the instruments and what they like about it? Get to know your child interest in the creative arts

    ● Have you observed your child dancing, singing or making music? Any interest in the creative arts?

    ●What style of Music does my child likes?

    ● Is your child open to learning different styles of Music or simply want to focus on one style? Ask them why they gravitate toward one or another style?

    ● How long do you want to invest in Music Lessons for your child? . Encourage them but do not force.

    ● Are you willing to support your child musical learning journey? (this means positively encouraging them to practice 3-5 times a week and creating a space free of distraction for them to do so. It also means asking them questions about their music journey experience and share any thoughts with their teachers)
