I would highly recommend Eric at House of Music for guitar lessons. I am after a certain style of guitar music using finger picking to play for my special needs son. I have learned that not all teachers are familiar with this style. Thankfully, Eric is great at it. He is also teaching me how to read music and not just play the chords or tab which is something I had overlooked. I am thankful he has been able to work with me and my unique set of circumstances and help me reach my goals.

Eric Lesko taught my son Brian guitar 18 years ago when Brian was a teenager. My son got to a point that he didnt want to practice and we were thinking about giving up the lessons. However, Eric got Brian playing whatever kind of music my son was interested in and he continued taking for a few years thereafter, completely enjoying it. When I decided to take up the guitar around eight years ago, Eric was the first and only instructor I thought of. Besides being very capable musically, he is willing to move in any direction that you want in order to keep you interested and helping you achieve your goals. He always has suggestions on ways to approach a particular piece in order to make playing fun and not frustrating. He is also well-versed in the use of technology to make playing a continuum as you gain skills, making a huge difference in being able to get more out of practice. Finally, he is conveniently located in a new facility in downtown Oviedo and he is very flexible with lesson days and times. Erics greatest asset is that he wants the student to enjoy playing as much as he does!

    Frequently asked questions

When we meet I like to ask them some questions about their musical background. It doesn’t mater if they have none, I just like to know where we are starting from. If they have played before, I ask them to play a little something. This also helps me assess where we are starting from. I ask them what their musical goals are. What kind of music they listen to. Who are their favorite artists. This all helps me formulate a plan or direction which we will be going in. Talking with them about how committed they are to practicing is important as well.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Guitar from the Hartt College of Music, University of Hartford. I also have some graduate credits in Guitar as well from Hartt.
