Being a self taught guitarist gives me a deep understanding of the struggles students face when trying to learn the instrument for the first time. My approach focuses on building a sense of "guitar/musical intuition" that is accessible to beginners of all ages. I strongly believe students need to learn what they like to play, not simply memorize information a teacher gives them. I also believe you learn most when you are doing what you love and when you are having fun doing it.

I have taught children as young as 4 and adults in their 80's. I enjoy teaching because I value transmitting information to people with curiosity and passion. I have found in my years of schooling that many instructors approach teaching with a preconceived agenda, which ends up muddling their topic and deterring students from asking questions. I enjoy teaching for the opposite reasons, and feel rewarded in helping students develop the tools they need to explore music from a place of intuitive understanding.

Have used him for over a year. Alex is a patient teacher, taking adequate time for explanation. He is flexible, punctual and always pleasant. He has a deep understanding of the guitar, and shares that knowledge with you. I cant imagine having any other teacher.

Alex has a lot of patience with Oliver, my 2-yr old. He is very accommodating, professional and makes every lesson fun for him. He understands what we want to get out of the lessons and works towards that. He is very reliable, and communicative. Very good with beginners!

🎸🌟 Raving Review for Alexs Guitar Lessons! 🎸🌟
If youre on the hunt for a guitar guru who can turn even the most reluctant rockstars into strumming sensations, look no further than Alex! My daughter, armed with nothing but her newfound electric guitar and a dream, embarked on a musical journey under Alexs tutelage.
I must confess, I was a fretting parent (pun intended!) about whether my 11-year-old would stick with it. But lo and behold, Alex worked his magic! His teaching prowess is as legendary as a rock anthem, and his patience? Well, lets just say he could give Yoda a run for his money.
Whats his secret sauce, you ask? Its a blend of encouragement, enthusiasm, and a dash of musical wizardry. He waved his wand – I mean, guitar pick – and suddenly, Liz was trading Minecraft for power chords and Roblox for riffs!
Thanks to Alex, our household has been transformed into a mini concert hall, and I couldnt be happier. Not only is he a maestro in the making, but hes also as affordable as a budget-friendly riff and as flexible as a bendable note. Plus, the fact that he comes to us? Its like having a rockstar at our doorstep!
So heres to you, Alex! Thanks for sharing your musical mojo with Liz and igniting a passion for music thats sure to last a lifetime. Cant wait to witness her rockstar evolution under your expert guidance. Consider us your biggest fans – and your loudest cheerleaders! πŸŽΆπŸ‘

Alex is focused and patient and he listens to you.
His style is relaxed. Alex offered a great suggestion on getting a different guitar, that was more suited to me. Im very happy to have hired Alex.

    Frequently asked questions

My process is first to understand the reason why a student wants to play, so that I can begin to formulate a  lesson plan for them. My next step is to ask students about their musical influences. After this, I will explain the basic parts of the guitar and the purpose they serve. After this a student will be ready to learn some very basic songs such as "Smoke On The Water" and "Twinkle Twinkle".

I have a batchelors degree in Philosophy as well as Classical Civilizations, and I currently operate a printmaking and publishing studio in Tampa. I have taught children, adults, and seniors the basics of guitar for roughly a decade.

I got into teaching when my grandfather told me he wanted to learn guitar and asked if I would give him a few lessons.

I have been teaching beginners since highschool, when I worked teaching young children how to play tennis. A few years later I began giving guitar lessons to my grandfather and acquaintances.
