Mark Pagnozzi was born in Australia and started his musical journey at a very young age, beginning piano lessons at age 4 and adding violin a year later. Soon afterward, he took up trumpet and vocal studies, for which he was awarded scholarships in his senior school years and the title of Music Captain in his final year.

Throughout his schooling years, Mark participated in every extracurricular music group he could, including school orchestras, bands and choirs. He also played for 10 years in the West Australian Youth Orchestra on both violin and trumpet, and for 5 years in the Australian Youth Orchestra program.

After studying for two years at the University of Western Australia, Mark received his Associate in Music diploma in violin from the AMEB. He then moved to Italy and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance at the Conservatorio di Musica E.F dall’Abaco, where he studied with Maestro Roberto Muttoni and graduated with honors in 2011. He went on to earn his Master’s degree in 2014, graduating with highest honors (110 e lode) under the guidance of Maestro Alberto Martini.

In the 13 years he lived in Italy, Mark also formed the Americana/Irish folk duo The Aroostercrats, with whom he sang and played guitar, harmonica, and kick drum. The duo has released 2 albums and has performed all over Europe and the UK, including online platforms such as BalconyTV and Sofar Sounds. In 2019, they performed on the televised talent show “Italia’s Got Talent.”

Since 2013, Mark has taught lessons in violin, viola, trumpet, piano, acoustic guitar, voice, and music theory. Now, residing in the US, he continues to enjoy his teaching career, introducing new students to the world of music and helping other musicians to fine-tune and improve their skills.

How did you get started teaching?

IAPS was created to provide each student the highest quality instruction. Our coaches are professionals in their fields and know what it takes to succeed in your industry of choice. IAPS strives to provide aid to students in need and firmly believes that everyone should be able to pursue their dreams. This studio was designed to be a unique resource to provide countless resources for student success and opportunities to perform and grow in their industry of choice.

What types of students have you worked with?

Our students have gone on to major conservatories nationally and globally. We have had students on the Voice, students who achieve lead roles in musical productions, and students who have gone on to work with some of our country's major labels in the recording industry.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

My best advice is to seek a provider you feel is able to understand what you are looking for. It is important to have an instructor who is patient as you discover your own artistic voice and will be a resource in the entire process. Find an instructor who is able to give you the tools and safe space to explore, without dictating what your authentic sound or qualities "should be". In this studio, a student is never a textbook, but a creative individual with authenticity to be fostered.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Every customer should evaluate what they are looking for - ("What would you like to see?"). Design a list of questions you may have regarding lesson structure and your personal ambitions. This can be discussed fully via the initial phone consultation that we offer complimentary to each new student and family.
