Kalani's Music Lessons
About
I love teaching people how to enjoy music and to be able to express themselves. With my students I am sure that we are learning everything that they need to learn at a pace that is catered to them so they get the most out of the experience of learning how to play an instrument. I have been playing violin for about 11 years and I have been teaching for 5 years. I started playing violin when I was in middle school and I eventually went on to graduate from a fine arts high school.w I then went to college and joined the symphony orchestra at Hawai'i Pacific University.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step that ideal for new students is to assess where they are musically. What that means is that I ask questions about what they have been taught before and I then pull out a beginners book and ask them to sight-read the music if they have playing experience. If they do not have any experience playing I will start off my teaching basic exercises to help learn the technique that they need.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because in the orchestra family I always helped myfellow players out so that we can all be able to give people the joy of listening to the music that we made together. As I was in college did always get a lot of questions about me teaching my fellow classmates to play the violin I would say yes and I realized how happy it made people to be able to make their own music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am very fond of was being able to play at the Georgia Aquarium. It was close to Halloween and we had a lot of groups coming in to play their instruments is part of the program so I brought my violin and I got requests to play my violin all day which was amazing.
