What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During 1st meeting I do a multi approach assessment. To understand the student goals, styles of learning. I also explain what to expect from my method/mentorship.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Started Piano lessons at 4 1/2 years of age. Continued to the national school of music/Conservatory of Peru. At 11 began harmony and arrangement studies with Berklee school of music visiting instructors.
Eventually moved to Boston to study music at Berklee School of Music. Then progressed to the University of Massachusetts at Boston to continue advanced harmonic studies and ethnomusicology. Eventually move to Samford University to do graduate studies in music and Theology, specializing in multi-age mentorship of artists.

How did you get started teaching?
I’ve began to teach as a teenager, after I had learned Berklee techniques. I taught my friends during middle and then high school. I’m a professional teacher with a busy teaching and performance practice.
What types of students have you worked with?
From beginners to advanced, amateurs and professionals.
I have taught master classes at national schools of music in Latin America, large and small churches in the USA.
I also have a number of students with mild learning disabilities.
My students range from kindergarten to college level, surgeons to grandparents.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Student recital third week of July.
And
My band that features some of the best musicians in the southeast. Directors of university jazz programs. As well as a Grammy winner, touring musicians with such as Temptations, Neville Brothers, also internationally rated Jazz musicians.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Choose carefully for one who has a passion for teaching and continues to study. Someone with diverse musical experience, able to Understand, teach, and play music styles from the world, improvisation, jazz, and the diverse eras of classical music.
This teacher should be patient, methodic, and offer encouragement and a clear path of learning
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The place to learn under a tutor is by necessity a place of safety and openness.
