Brett Carter Guitar Lessons
About
I've been playing guitar over half my life. I started with flamenco and incorporated classical and metal along the way. I now play in a local metal band and write all the music for it. I do feel classical guitar is a great way to help other genres of playing and build a solid foundation for any guitar player. From years of being taught, to now self teaching, I've found what works in practice and hope I can show others how to learn, enhance, and build upon their guitar playing.
Like any other musician, it's fun! Accomplishing new goals and learning new techniques and songs is what makes playing an instrument worth it. I hope to give others the same feeling as well.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I feel passion helps direct where you want to start with instruments. If you love a certain song, genre, or band. I can help you learn it. If the material is too difficult at first, I'll help break it down step by step to ensure you understand each section and don't start bad habits by skipping over important aspects of playing and technique. If the material seems completely unplayable, I'll start you off with something basic but still related to what you want to learn in order to set a foundation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taught guitar at a summer camp for multiple years. Played live shows around town. And helped other musicians I've encountered face problems with their playing. I've learned music from accredited guitar players and excelled in their courses/lessons.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
No standard rate as of yet. I'm new to this website so I don't anticipate charging high prices.
How did you get started teaching?
Just wanting to share the love for playing an instrument with others!
What types of students have you worked with?
Mainly beginner (chords, simple riffs) players. Aged 8-15.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm proud my band was able to open for a big show before COVID in March of 2020, we opened for Boston's, Revocation, and received surprising praise from them and other audience members who had not heard us play before.
