My experience as a private teacher began i n 1970 and includes teaching in the Drake University School of Music, Rieman Music in Des Moines and in I Love a Piano Music Studio. I am an active participant in Des Moines Music Teachers, Iowa Music Teachers and the National Association of Music. 7 years of study when young, 18 years as an adult, classes in pedagogy and theory at Iowa State and Drake Universities and over 150 numerous workshops have honed my skills as an educator. Students participate in group lessons, ear training, recitals, festivals, master classes and competitions. I am a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and Drake University. Theory, pedagogy, analysis, scales, chord study and structure are important parts of the student's curriculum incorporated from the beginning. My studio includes a concert grand piano, and keyboards. Celebrating who my students are as individuals, helping them discover insights about themselves and observing the development of confidence, determination and discipline is rewarding to me as a teacher. I enjoy being around anyone learning new things because I am a perpetual student. Working with students keeps me constantly engaged in life. Music is ageless and lasts through a student's life.
