What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson/consultation helps me assess the students' skill level and musical goals!! From there I put together a lesson plan according to the students' needs. I want my students to feel excited and not get discouraged so I think it's important to keep it fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a working musician and I have over 25 years of playing under my belt. I've also studied with some great teachers and learned many helpful tricks to help fascilitate my lessons.

Sutton Family Music rates are: $30 per half hour. $45 per forty-five. $60 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started by helping friends and family learn to play guitar and then word got around!
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all ages and skill levels. I'm here to help my students become independent learners so they can enjoy a lifetime of playing.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love the outdoors: fishing, camping, foraging! I also love going to my kids' sporting events and school activities!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask as many questions as needed and be clear about what it is you are trying to accomplish. There are many styles and lots of different ways to approach the guitar. We are here to help make that process easier.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? What style of music interests you the most? Who are your favorite artists/bands? Are you interested in composing originals, learning cover tunes, learning lead or rhythm?
