Mr. Klaus Band Instrument Lessons
About
I have 30 years of successful experience as a certified public school band director in the Chicago area. I have a masters degree in music as well. My bands have received first division and superior ratings throughout the Midwest, and I received a "Key Contributor" award from my school. I use my experience and knowledge to provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding experience for my students!
I absolutely love teaching music and helping people enjoy playing band instruments! Helping my students grow and improve is very meaningful for me, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing the joy and excitement in my students as they learn to play! Each lesson I review goals with my students and together we make sure we are working to accomplish them. Please see my links below:

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin by talking a little bit to get to know my student and having them get to know me. Knowing my students' goals and interests is important to me. I then ask them to play a bit for me to get to know their skill level and observe their performance habits. For beginners, I would spend time with assembling the instrument and playing position. The next step would be adding some new materials and practice materials that would be challenging and motivating.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold 2 degrees in music, a BS in music education from the University of Illinois, and an MA in music pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University. I have 30 years of successful experience as a public school band director.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I normally charge $30 for a 30 minute lesson, $40 for 45 minutes, and $50 for one hour.
