About

I am a professional opera singer who has a Masters degree from University of North Texas and a Bachelors degree in voice performance from Simpson College. I have formal training in voice and piano and have been performing and taking lessons since I was a child. I have been teaching in the Chicago Suburbs for 2 years now and love my job. I make sure my studio is nurturing and that not only are students working hard to improve every week, but they have FUN while they are doing it.

I love when a student's love for music grows. They want to practice and come in and tell me about all the songs they want to learn. I also love seeing the improvement from week to week and how taking lessons boost so many student's confidence in multiple areas of their lives.

Then we go through the basics of how music works and start with simple songs to help teach them the basics such as rhythm and note reading. We usually work out of a lesson book, but as they get more advanced, we start to add some fun performance songs as well.

I have a Masters of Music in Voice Performance and a Bachelors of Music in Voice Performance. This means I have extensive training in playing piano, singing, and in music theory. I have also been teaching for 3+ years. I am also currently working with Opera for the Young on their current educational tour where we go and performan an opera in schools for the students. This means I have lots of experience educating students about music.

Yes, for piano I charge $25 a half hour and voice I charge $25 for a half hour.

I found that teaching complimented my performance career and it helped me become a better teacher because I was still out in the performance world and could bring those techniques back to my studio. My family is also a family of music teachers so it's just a part of who I am!

I work will all types of students. Male, female, ages 4-80 and many students who learning disabilities or who have other particular needs.
