What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We have an initial interview so we both find out what we have in common before making any committments. Then we set up a start date and proceed with a month of lessons, each week evaluating the success and feelings we have around our progress, making future goals. Then all we need to do is keep on this track to see our dreams become reality!

Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano and Pedagogy, honors dissertations, University of Colorado at Boulder
Over 15 years experience as a professional international performer and ensemble performer, including rock/popular music and jazz
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25 for .5 hour lesson payable weekly, with a discount for monthly payment on the initial lesson of the month.
How did you get started teaching?
I began my teaching journey as I earned my undergraduate degree in piano performance. I enjoyed teaching so much I just continued doing it no matter where else life took me.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and levels, from 5 year old beginner to 90 year old recreational player to aspiring and professional jazz or classical artists.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Im happy to see a senior college student succeed at performing her senior recital last week! It was a joy to work with her and perform with her and her friends at this culmination of her study. In the past, I was so proud to have presented a concert with my Briercrest college orchestra ensemble in their first performance of American Jazz in Saskatchewan. I was happy to be the piano soloist as one member stepped up to conduct the ensemble in Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and one member played on recital with me at another event.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure you enjoy eachother as you will spend precious time purusung your goals together--and keep on communicating!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Your teacher is your best advocate and really wants to help you but can't do that if you are not willing to listen to their advice. Be sure you have been quiet and thought about exactly what you wish to accomplish before beginning to evaluate your progress.
