I have a Bachelor of Music, have been teaching for 36 years and welcome students from age 5-adult. My passions: patient, genuine care for each student; methods tailored to the needs of the students; creative, fun & effective learning environment.

I enjoy spending time with my students and watching them learn a valuable skill: playing an instrument. Hearing them develop musicianship and expression brings me joy. I love to teach about composers and musical styles. At each recital we have a Composer Contest and the whole family joins in.

Miss Payette is a fantastic piano teacher. My son has been receiving lessons for 2 years with her. Her lessons are based on the Suzuki method but she adds so many wonderful activities that really help children understand music and connect with each song. Miss Payette integrates music reading and theory to her piano lessons which makes her classes a complete music experience!

Ive been a student of hers for years, and I absolutely love her! She is very kind and welcoming, and her home is neat and clean. I learned so much and you can tell she loves piano and teaching so much. She has had students ranging from ~3 or 4 years old up to seniors in high school so she can teach all levels. I highly recommend her, and in addition to learning so much and becoming a better pianist, lessons were fun and encouraging. I no longer take lessons from her as Im in college now, but we still keep in touch over text and email because she builds lasting relationships with her students.

Frequently asked questions

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I like to chat on the phone and set up a time for them to come to observe a lesson. I give them a few handouts regarding what to expect at lessons. Next we set up a 3 week parent education session and read and discuss Nurtured by Love by Shinichi Suzuki and a few other helpful handouts. At this point we start the listening portion so the student and parent can become familiar with the music. Week four, the student comes and we begin to play!
