What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first lesson is to get to know the student's temperament and level of musicianship. Each new student is welcomed with kindness, lots of encouragement, and patience throughout the lesson. The first lesson is also a great opportunity for students to ask me questions to see if it is a good match! (We encourage questions!)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Koryana Boyle (Saxophone/Bass/Clarinet/Ukulele)
*She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Music Education from Elmhurst University. Koryana is also members of the American Strings Teachers Association {ASTA}, the National Association for Music Education {NAfME}, and the Music Teacher National Association {MTNA}.

Patrick Feehan (Guitar/Percussion/Piano)
*He is currently working towards an Associate of Fine Arts in Music from Harper College and is also a member of the Music Teacher National Association {MTNA}

Chloe Guerra (Voice/Ukulele/Beginner's Piano)
*Received her Associate of Fine Arts in Music from Harper College and is currently working towards a Bachelor of Choral Music Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Chloe is also a member of the Music Teachers National Association {MTNA}, the National Association of Teachers of Singing {NATS}, and the National Association for Music Education {NAfME}.

John Melachrinakis (Guitar/Music Theory)
*Received his Bachelor of Science in Music Business from Elmhurst College. Plays a variety of styles such as classical, jazz, rock, and pop.

What types of students have you worked with?

Students of all kinds are welcome! We teach ages of 5 and 105, and everything in between! Regardless of musicianship level, age, gender, sexual orientation, race, and special needs, you are welcome in our studio!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for a teacher who can adjust to your style of music and also challenge you in different styles as well!

Be vocal about your needs as a student to get the best possible results from your future instructor!

Look at the teacher's credentials! Do they have a form of degree or certification? Do they have plenty of experience in their field?

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

1. What are my overall goals for lessons?

2. Do I have the proper materials to begin?

3. How much time outside of the lesson am I willing to work on this new skill?
