About

I first wanted to play the violin at age 5 after hearing Violin by They Might Be Giants, but I didn't start until age 7 after beginning piano lessons beforehand. I have since fallen in love with all things music and taken up countless other small stringed instruments in addition to the violin and piano. I play many styles - gypsy jazz, classical, rock, indie, you name it - and I enjoy listening to almost all other styles as well.

My first album was released in 2014, a gypsy jazz record created by the DeAngelo Trio with guest artist Ira Coleman on bass. I have also played over 100 gigs with the DeAngelo Trio. Highlights include playing at the Pennsylvania Governor's Awards for the Arts, opening for the Hot Club of San Francisco in Harrisburg, and traveling to Seattle, WA, for Starbucks Coffee Company's 20 year anniversary at the Kent Roasting Plant, Though my brother now lives in Colorado and we are unable to perform as a trio in most instances, I still perform with my dad as the DeAngelo Duo quite often.

In the classical realm of things, I have also played in several professional level orchestras and other ensembles. Highlights include serving as concertmaster of the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra for over a year, as well as playing in pit orchestras for Theatre Harrisburg's The Music Man, and Capitol Opera's Die Fledermaus. In May 2015, I made my debut as a concert soloist when I performed the Wieniawski Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra. I also play chamber music from time to time, playing difficult works like the Shostakovich String Quartet No. 3 and the Shostakovich Piano Trio. I will be continuing my classical violin studies at Chicago College of Performing Arts this fall under the tutelage of Frank Almond.

I thoroughly enjoy writing my own music as well and will be releasing my first self-produced, self-recorded solo album this fall. I began writing my own music in late 2014, though I had compiled many incomplete ideas well before then. I enjoy playing other instruments like the tenor banjo and mandolin, as well as guitar and piano, and I use these skills in my own compositions.
