About
I recognize the potential in each one of my violin students. With my customizable approach, I’ve seen my Chicago area students’ self-esteem and musical skill consistently rise. I love what I do and it makes me happy to be able to share my passion with others. Since starting as a private violin teacher in 2016, my results are a testament to the fact that my system works. I’m a patient, adaptable, and professional music teacher ready to help you reach your goals. Get in touch today so we can start working together.
Learning to play the violin is in many ways a journey. It takes many years of practice, support from family, friends, and teachers; and the will power to achieve seemingly impossible feats of mastery. What I love most about the work I do is watching and encouraging people on this journey. I love watching students progress and accomplish things that they never thought possible. I get so excited when a student learns a tricky passage or I notice their sound has improved. It is deeply satisfying to share my knowledge and inspire others to make music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
There are a few questions I ask before I meet with a new student to establish a baseline. On our first lesson we will dive right in! If they already have experience playing I'll ask them to play something they know, we'll work on it, and then introduce new material. If a student is brand new to the instrument we'll go over the basics and I'll have them playing a simple tune by the end of the lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in music education and several years of experience teaching orchestra and k-12 general music. As a certified music teacher you can be assured that you're being taught by a true educator as well as an expert violinist!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1 hr lesson, in-person - $55
1 hr lesson, online - $48
30 minute lesson (for children, online or in-person) - $45

How did you get started teaching?
I've always been teaching! Since high school I have been mentoring and teaching other violinists in schools, community organizations, and privately. I was encouraged and inspired by the exceptional private teachers and orchestra teachers I had while growing up.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ages 5 to 75! I follow a classical approach with most students but I also teach old style, Irish, and Scottish style fiddle to students who express interest in those styles. I encourage all of my students to pursue their musical goals reguardless of age or background.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go with your gut, listen to your child, and find a teacher you look forward to seeing every week.
