Abby does a great job with the three of us (myself and my two children ages 9 & 10). We have been taking lessons for 1.5 years and she take times to connect with us as well as finding the right challenge.

My kids and I all took lessons from Abby Wheatley. I love how she tailored our instruction specifically to each persons level and their goals. She made it fun, while also endeavoring to develop well-rounded, capable musicians. I havent stopped playing since we started!

My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Abby for almost 2 years (starting at 8 yo) and our experience has been fantastic. My daughter has a tendency to get distracted by random thoughts and Abby is really good with making sure she is heard, but quickly redirecting attention back to the lesson. We do lessons over zoom, initially I was unsure how that would work, but I have nothing but positives, theres no issue with communication between the student and teacher. Its convenient, flexible, and we were able to move states and keep our teacher with no interruptions. Abby is knowledge, understands children and how to motivate and encourage them, while making music fun.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with the basics. Getting used to where all the notes are and how they look on sheet music. As you work through simple songs, I watch for how the you learn so I can cater to your learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a part of several music ensembles over the years including piano and choir ensembles and I have led many worship teams. I hold an associates degree in arts. I have had the pleasure of teaching for nearly 10 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

-$70/hour lesson
How did you get started teaching?
I first began as an assistant piano teacher for my piano teacher when I was a young teenager. Haven't stopped teaching since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all ages and levels; with grade school aged, those who are retired, and those in between. Many students I've taught have ADHD, and we have seen amazing improvements in executive functioning through lessons.
