About

Mia is knowledgeable on both the violin and the viola as well as piano and has been playing music from the age of nine. She loves teaching privately and works very well with children/teens of all ages! Mia recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Elmhurst University with a double-major in Music Business and Spanish and a minor in Business Administration. Mia plays in several ensembles, from full string orchestra to pit orchestras to intimate chamber settings and even jazz combos! Mia is no stranger to auditions and has participated in many high-level musical groups including the ILMEA Orchestra and District 214 Honors Orchestra. She was selected in 2019 as a winner in the Elmhurst University annual NAfME Solo Honors Recital. She is extremely well versed in a variety of genres including classical, pop, jazz, bluegrass, and more. Whether you are a beginning student or have played for years, Mia will be able to give practical, focused advice while also keeping lessons fun!

Believe it or not, I think that even as a teacher, I am learning just as much during lessons as my students are. In every lesson, I am able to figure out new ways to explain concepts and connect with my students. While teaching is a job, what I get out of teaching is simply invaluable. Each student is unique and teaches me incredible things about the world, because music is such a deeply emotional, personal, intangible thing. I am extremely grateful for what I am able to do and for what my students give back to me through the power of music.

    Frequently asked questions

Every student comes from a different background in music, so I take care to address the individual needs of each student. I love to find where they shine (do they have a great sense of rythm? Good style? Perfect pitch?) and use that as encouragement as we improve other areas! It is important for me as a teacher to be able to know each student’s goals as a musician and help them work towards achieving them.

I have studied music starting at the age of 9, when I began to play viola. From there, I've taken on learning to play the violin, the guitar, and the piano. This past May I graduated Elmhurst College Magna Cum Laude with degrees in Music Business and Spanish. I have been teaching private music lessons for 7 years!

Yes: $32/half hour lesson, $48 for 45 minutes, and $64 for a full hour. Lessons occur once a week and parents pre-pay for the month during the first lesson of each month.

I started teaching at the age of 16. My first student lived right across from my high school, so I would walk to her house since I didn't have a car. It sparked something in me, and I learned that I love sharing the gift of music! I have now taught over 40 students across Elmhurst, Buffalo Grove, and Brookfield!

I have worked with students from age 4 to age 20! I love working with kids and teens. I am very patient with my students and offer a judgement-free zone during our lessons together. It is important for me as a teacher to not only teach musical techniques, but to also uplift my students and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment after each of our lessons.
