Believe it or not, I think that even as a teacher, I am learning just as much during lessons as my students are. In every lesson, I am able to figure out new ways to explain concepts and connect with my students. While teaching is a job, what I get out of teaching is simply invaluable. Each student is unique and teaches me incredible things about the world, because music is such a deeply emotional, personal, intangible thing. I am extremely grateful for what I am able to do and for what my students give back to me through the power of music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student comes from a different background in music, so I take care to address the individual needs of each student. I love to find where they shine (do they have a great sense of rythm? Good style? Perfect pitch?) and use that as encouragement as we improve other areas! It is important for me as a teacher to be able to know each student’s goals as a musician and help them work towards achieving them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied music starting at the age of 9, when I began to play viola. From there, I've taken on learning to play the violin, the guitar, and the piano. This past May I graduated Elmhurst College Magna Cum Laude with degrees in Music Business and Spanish. I have been teaching private music lessons for 7 years!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes: $32/half hour lesson, $48 for 45 minutes, and $64 for a full hour. Lessons occur once a week and parents pre-pay for the month during the first lesson of each month.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching at the age of 16. My first student lived right across from my high school, so I would walk to her house since I didn't have a car. It sparked something in me, and I learned that I love sharing the gift of music! I have now taught over 40 students across Elmhurst, Buffalo Grove, and Brookfield!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from age 4 to age 20! I love working with kids and teens. I am very patient with my students and offer a judgement-free zone during our lessons together. It is important for me as a teacher to not only teach musical techniques, but to also uplift my students and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment after each of our lessons.
