About
I am very passionate about music and helping others. To me there is no greater joy than being able to help someone reach their goals and express themselves artistically!
I love "lightbulb" moments where something clicks for a student, a performance, when a student meets goals, or when a student accomplishes something they've worked so hard at. Getting to meet a wide variety of wonderful people with many talents is so heart warming.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically I do an intake on the first lesson, getting to know the student musically and beyond (what are they like, what are their hobbies, what do they enjoy, do they have musical experience), etc. Then, we'll discuss goals and what we can do to meet those goals (curriculum, etc.) and also talk about something fun students might want to do outside the box/to challenge themselves a bit! I always want to make sure my students feel comfortable around me and excited about music!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors in vocal performance with ample experience in classroom, one on one, and group education with honors, and hold a masters degree from Northwestern University in voice and opera. I have been teaching privately and in large settings for over 8 years and have taught ear training, music theory, classical piano, classical voice, musical theatre, and other genres as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Due to the global pandemic and the current CDC recommendations, I will be teaching online/from home for the forseeable future until more people are vaccinated (unfortunately singing and being in close proximity is a very easy way to spread covid). Once things begin to normalize, I will then consider teaching out of my home. Due to all of this, I have adjusted my prices based on my experience, but also to have a lower fee due to these factors.
30 minutes: $40
45 minutes: $55
60 minutes: $70
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching as a form of supplemental income after I graduated high school, and I grew to love it so much I continued it in college on top of full time music school. During my gap time between degrees, I dedicated all my time to teaching (over 40 students!) and now that I am about to graduate again, it would bring me much joy to continue to teach.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages (4-75), all backgrounds, and all sorts of wants/needs. Some students just want to learn how to sing in choir more freely. Others are pursuing music degrees. Some want to learn how to play a song or two on the piano. Others want to take RCM exams. I love meeting students where they're at and helping them out along the way! Music is for everyone.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure to find someone who you feel comfortable with and is encouraging!! This is so important. If a teacher is too harsh on a student or you don't click wtih a teacher well or feel comfortable, it can make the music making process very miserable sometimes.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Try to think about, "What are my goals?"! Even if it's small, that's awesome because goal setting is really important in music! If you choose to take with me, we'll goal set in our first lesson and continue to goal set as we develop together.
