Hello! My name is Anna Berntson, and I recently earned my Master's degree from University of Michigan studying under Aaron Berofsky. I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 2012 where I studied with David Bowlin. In addition to my studies, I currently substitute with Ann Arbor, Lansing, and Jackson symphonies. As of spring 2017, I am Suzuki certified. Over the past few years, I have performed in masterclasses for artists such as Almita Vamos, Lawrence Dutton, and Sir Simon Rattle. I am passionate about helping all of my students to reach their full potential on their instruments, and have had students from beginner through adult. I offer a nurturing, positive, and supportive environment for all students to learn.
Anna has worked with my first grade classes over the past three years. She can handle large groups with ease. She asks higher level questions and keeps my students involved and actively engaged. Every student in my room has a positive response to her visits. They love working with her and so do I! She is at ease with students and able keep them focused and attentive. She is always flexible yet grade-level appropriate with all of her activities. I find her skills as a violinist to be superb!
I assess the student's level and pick appropriate repertoire and plan lessons which foster quick progress. I focus in on what students do well to create progress. I gain understanding of students' unique learning styles and cater my teaching to their needs.
