Lucia is a dynamic, intuitive, and creative teacher and mentor. She listens and teaches to the interests of her students, helping to ignite their own passion for music! Included with private lessons, there is a regular free group class where students get to perform for each other and arrange songs together. Lucia has been teaching for 10+ years both in public schools, and in private homes. She has an undergraduate degree in Violin Performance from the Lamont School of Music and is certified to teach the Suzuki method. Kids as young as 5 can start, and any adult can learn - it's never too late!

A violinist of many styles, Lucia has won national competitions in Irish music and received numerous grants to study music from the Middle East, the Balkans, Ghana, Thailand and Argentina. In 2019 she won the prestigious Fulbright Scholar award in order to study Hindustani classical music and Baul folk music in West Bengal, India. Any of these styles you can learn too! Lucia is a multi-instrumentalist: violin, banjo, oud, dotara, khamok, and guitar. Please inquire with interests in learning any of these instruments!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To get to know you, I'll listen to your current level of playing, ask about your interests are and how much/what kind of music is in your house. Then we will start playing!
