I am dedicated to framing the student’s individual goals front and center, and tailoring a curriculum and lessons to meet the needs and best support each individual student. I firmly believe in not only instilling a love and appreciation of music, but also the transferable skills music education offers us, including discipline, curiosity, creativity, self confidence and expression, and listening skills. I have taught students as young as four, but also have adult learners in my studio, either who have decided to finally follow their curiosity and passion to learn an instrument or who are dusting off an old violin from childhood. I am flexible in the genres, goals (whether for fun or more rigourous audition prep goals), and I will help you as a student (or your child) to visualize your own musical goals and design the best possible lesson plans and practice plans for you to achieve and surpass them. I aim to help every student reach their full potential by careful technique training, creativity and improvisational skills, and develop their own musical personality. Fundamentals to advanced, all levels welcome.
I teach violin of all levels, beginner viola, general music including basic music theory and reading, as well as aural skills necessary for all musical paths.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Lessons usually once a week at 30/45/60 minute length (or longer on a case by case basis), negotiable how often and for how long!
meet and get to know student, if a beginner, make sure their instrument and equipment is the right size, properly set up. Can assist in minor repairs / set up and help direct to where to find an instrument if need be. Want to know the interests of the student, any goals or hopes they have for violin so that we can best help you achieve and get what you want out of lessons. Help create a practice plan. Observe how individual best learns, guide students through series of technique exercises, pieces, etudes appropriate for their level, music reading and theory, encouraging listening to new music and other musicians as well as playing and performing with and for others in a group setting when possible (teaches cooperation, listening, confidence).
For younger students, parental or secondary involvement, if/when possible watching lessons and assisting in practice at home), is highly encouraged but not a necessity to learn, however this can be extremely helpful for very young children.
