About
I am a voice and piano instructor with almost two decades of experience in public schools and private music studios, and I have a degree in choral music education from the University of Illinois. I can't wait to meet you (or your child), to see if we'd be a good fit! Please feel free to visit my website at lombardmusiclessons.com for more information on tuition rates, my teaching style, and more.
While I of course enjoy simply sharing my love of music with students of all ages, one of my very favorite things about being a private music teacher is having the opportunity to teach a child for many years. As a public school teacher, there was only a finite time for which I could teach a particular child, but as a private teacher, I'm sometimes able to have many years in which I can watch a young child grow into a competent young adult. Being able to be a part of a student's (and the student's family's) life for years feels like a real privilege.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Normally I like to schedule a single trial lesson with a new student to see if we're going to be a good fit. With students who have previously studied with another teacher, I will ask them to bring any sheet music for pieces they worked on with their last teacher, so I can get an idea of where they're at and assess the best direction in which to go with them. For students new to private vocal or piano study, I simply ask them to show up with a smile to their first lesson, and I will do my best to put them at ease!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I taught public school choir from 2000 to 2005, and have been a private lesson teacher ever since. Please visit my website at lombardmusiclessons.com for more information!
