Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
This is very important and is customized for each student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I feel strongly about the importance of education and am Illinois State Certified in Instrumental Music Education. I have received BSME and MME degrees and have taught school band for 13 years. I am a full time musician and musical educator. In addition to completion of piano major performance exams (all superior ratings), I have completed music education exams on all band and orchestra instruments with additional exams (beyond requirements) on voice, clarinet, flute, violin, and French horn. I continue to attent seminars and concerts to further my musical experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels of proficiency.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask if they are a full time musician, their education, and ask for many references.
