About
My name is Caitlin Edwards and I've been playing and writing music for twenty years. I play guitar, violin, and ukulele. I have my Bachelors of Music (Music Therapy) from Western Illinois University. I am a board certified music therapist, but I also give music lessons. I am a very encouraging and patient instructor who has worked with students of all ages. I can provide beginner to expert guitar, violin, and ukulele lessons for all ages.
Not only have I played in high school and college orchestras, I also currently perform in two rock bands where I sing and play guitar. I enjoy rock, folk, blues, jazz, and classical music. Music is my life. I know how it can greatly impact anyone's life for the better. I believe learning a musical skill is something someone can cherish for the rest of their life.
I love seeing the excitement and sense of accomplishment my students feel after they learn a song or technique they always wanted to learn. I also love to hear when my students start performing live on their own or in a band. It's also nice to hear my students say that they like to play their instrument by themseleves or with others at home. When any of my students choose to continue playing their instrument throughout their lives, I feel very accomplished.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out what type of music my student likes, what are their goals for playing an instrument. I like to show them the basics, but I make sure they leave the lesson working on a song.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I learned how to read and write music at ten years old. I was in my high school orchestra playing the violin. I taught myself how to play guitar, write music, and read chords/tabs. I have my Bachelor's of Music (Music Therapy) from Western Illinois University. I have given guitar lessons in the past in music stores in my community. I continue to play guitar and sing in two bands.
