What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have to asses what music they are interested in and are passionate about. If they want to learn to read music or play by ear. See what their goal is and what they want to accomplish. See if they want to play for themselves, or play infront of an audience. I want to students be hungry and motivated to search and seek out ways of learning, whether it be technology, books, transcriptions etc.

I charge $25 per 30 minutes.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching, by teaching and showing my younger brother what I learned in my piano lesson. We had a upright piano and wurlitzer organ. I would show him and he would play it on the instrument. We would play music together. We also had a another friend in middle school who was learning piano at the sametime. We all would practice in person or on the phone.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with students of all age students raning from youngsters to elderly. I currentywork with the following students: immigrants, refugees, ethnicities, genders, from beginner to advanced, music by ear or to learn how to read music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was fond of having a 80 year old piano student who is passionate about learning, reading, and talking about music, and his experiences with music and how it has helped him over the years. I have learned alot of wisdom and knowledge from him. He has inspired me. He walks on a cane, but doesn't let that stop his drive.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that invests in seeing you become the musician that you are created to be. Find a teacher that uses the correct pedagogical strategy to help you learn the fastest.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time are they going to invest in learning music? How much time are they going to spend practicing? Are they going to surround themselves with other musicians and artists that will help inspire and encourage them to be the best?
