About
I provide house-call lessons for guitar, bass, piano, drum or other instrument. I teach students of all ages and levels of experience. I teach individual lessons mainly but I like to play music with my students and if they have siblings or friends we can start a band!
I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music with others and playing different instruments with my students and see them increase their knowledge and enjoyment of music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Once I respond to your request please respond with any questions either through Lessons.com or call or text my number which I will provide. I will need your address and your availability and we can set up a day and time for regular weekly lessons. We can text at first and then set up a time to chat before our first lesson if you would like. Once you have a time you like, it's yours!
I start students with traditonal note-reading, ear-training and other specific material based on their instrument and skill level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar since I was 11. I studied with several teachers and played in the jazz combo and the Jazz Ensemble (Big Band) at Moraine Valley Community College and attended Elmhurst College where I played in many, many ensembles on electric and classical guitar as well as upright (string) and electric bass. I currently play in a band, play musicals and teach private lessons.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 for a half-hour lesson, $40 for a 45 minute lesson and $50 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was studying music at Moraine Valley in 2007 when my guitar teacher at the school who also had a studio down the street asked me to sub for another teacher at his studio. After a couple months of subbing he told me that it was my regular gig and these were my students. He had to close down about 2 years later but I went on to continue teaching at various studios in the area, Music Way, House of Music, School of Rock, Guitar FUN-damentals and also Mi Sol Academy, a private Elementary scool. Currently, I teach privately and gig.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had and continue to teach very advanced students as well as students with disabilities. I have had studnts of all ages from 5 to roughly 85. Some students come to me as complete beginners with no musical knowledge ot experience and some are already very advanced but in either case we always find new things to learn.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone you like and trust and stick with that teacher for regular weekly lessons as long as you are able. This is a paraphrase from the great avant-garde composer John Cage.
