About
I am a credentialed music educator which means, I possess certain tools and resources to help tailor lessons directly to the student. Additionally, I teach exclusively online so I use technology to our advantage in the lessons to aid in the learning process. I have been voted Best of Lessons.com in 2020, 2021, and 2022 for the wide array of instruments that I teach and the overall success of my students. I also like to use humor and laugh a lot in lessons, because that makes learning fun and gets the student (and myself) excited for lessons! All of my lessons are focused on how the student can succeed at the moment and feel confident in their abilities.
I love working with a wide range of instruments and age groups. Seeing learn an instrument and become self-sufficient, confidient and proud players is one of the highlights of my jobs.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Establish a good first impression with students and make them feel comfortable to want to continue to take lessons and grow through their instruments. I use a lot of humor in my work. Learning music is a lot like learning a new language, it can be challenging and frustrating, so I like to make it as fun as possible from the very beginning!

How did you get started teaching?
I got my start in a non-traditional way. I started as an accompanist for a Jr. High School that turned into a full time teaching gig the following year. In my teaching career, I have taught: middle school and high school band, choir, and special education. In addition, have also served as Athletic Director in an administrative role.
Now I teach 100% online and have had great success helping students reach their potential in a non-traditional classroom/studio setting!
What types of students have you worked with?
In music, I work with a variety of students from all different backgrounds from beginners to professional instrumentalists and vocalists in both formal, amateur, and professional settings.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to not worry as much about the cost of the lesson but rather the teacher matches what you (and your child) are looking for. Finding a teacher that clicks with you and your child is a more important than anything else in their musical journey!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think a student (of any age) should ask themselves what their goals are and tell the teacher when asked. Goals could range from students wanting to play Itsy Bitsy Spider to playing Carnegie Hall. These goals will change over time too.
I also think it's important that students ask questions or let the teacher know when they don't understand something. Believe it or not, we are not mindreaders. :)
