Taylor Music

Hello.

My name is Michael Taylor. My business is Taylor Music. I teach in my studio in Pawnee, Il and Online.

I have times available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday between 4-8 pm.

I have been a Professional in Musician/Composer/Recordist and Teacher for close to 50 years. I have composed and performed in a wide range of styles. My foundations lie in Blues, Jazz, and Popular music styles of the 20th century. I performed with bands for many decades. I have been teaching all along.

I have spent a great deal of time with Fingerstyle Guitar techniques; Classical, Chet Atkins Thumbstyle, and Jazz Fingerstyle Ala Martin Taylor.

I also play Bass in a variety of styles.

I enjoy helping people with their music. Each student has curriculum that caters to individual interests.

I think these areas of study are important: Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Improvisation, Performance, Slide Guitar, Fingerstyle, Open tuning, Rhythm guitar and Lead guitar. Mostly I like to work with songs, which is the end goal; being able to play songs. I am my happiest when learning a new tune.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: There will be a bit of chatting about what kind of music the student is interested in learning. If the student knows how to play I will have them show me what they know.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Student arrives we tune up and start picking. We review previous assigned work and hopefully cover new material to work on.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: An ideal student is ready for new material on a weekly basis.
