Jeff Hammond Guitar Lessons
About
My focus is showing students the easiest ways to play. I simplify guitar playing techniques so that beginning students can make quick progress in their elementary skills so that playing becomes fun.
I have been playing guitar (acoustic, electric and bass) for 25 years and serving in church worship ministries as both acoustic guitarist and worship director for 20 years. I began teaching guitar in 2011.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We always start with an introduction to the guitar itself as well as general music skills such as counting a 4/4 time signature. I prefer teaching from the "Everybody's Guitar Method: Book One" which utilizes a method of learning one string at a time and building up to the point of being able to play the Star Spangled Banner.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My original music education was on trumpet for 7 years from 5th-12th grades where I learned the basics of reading and understanding music. At the age of 25 I began learning guitar. I was mostly self taught, acquiring books and videos on guitar technique and music theory. I began learning chords and rhythm and progressed from there into scales, modes and melody and later a finger style technique. I began playing guitar on the church worship team in 1998 and became director of worship at my current church in 2006.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 per session for weekly in home half-hour lessons made payable at the time of the lesson. The guitar lesson book is an additional one time $10 purchase. I accept cash or check.
I do offer a discounted special of $200 for eight lessons for those who prefer a longer term arrangement.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when parents of students at my church began requesting guitar lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly youth but a couple of beginner adults. I focus on beginner players.
