About this pro

Hello, my name is Keegan Ferrell. I have been playing piano for 12 years by myself, and also in a traveling band for the past 5 years. I am a member of the incoming class of 2021 to the prestigious and world-renowned BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in Boston, MA, to which I received a large scholarship to attend. I have experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from child/adult beginners to intermediate and more advanced level students.

I won a gold medal in the ISSMA Division 1 High School Solo Competition when I was in eighth grade, and I have been featured on NPR Radio 89.1 Meet the Music, an in-studio live music radio show. I am also a recording artist on Apple Music and Spotify.

My specialty is the understanding and application of basic and advanced music theory into improvising in a wide variety of genres, such as blues, jazz, pop, Christian, country, and many more. My goal is for you to be able to sit down at a piano and make an amazing tune off of the top of your head, or to take simple chord changes and make a masterpiece out of them.

I would love to teach you!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first step for me is always getting to know you as an individual. Everyone is different, and therefore everyone has a different learning style. It's important for me to understand who you are outside of music as well as who you are as a musician so that I can formulate a specialized learning path for you.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a scholarship student at Berklee College of Music which is the best contemporary music college in the world.

How did you get started teaching?

My musical journey is very special to me, and it has made me who I am today.  I look back and see the many teachers and mentors who paved the path for me, and how influential they have been in my life. I feel that it is important for me to give back and help others pave their musical paths as well. It excites me that I could impact a student's life through my teaching.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages, all experience levels.
