Benjamin Helton's Beginning Piano Lessons
About
In my teaching, I am constantly working to make learning the piano engaging, educational, and most of all, fun. Additionally, I strive to make piano lessons a "safe space" where students can feel relaxed, supported, and comfortable. My main goals in teaching are to instill a strong work ethic in students while developing finely trained musical skills. This allows students to take what is learned in lessons, using the same skills and knowledge, to practice at home and on pieces that the student enjoys.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I check to see the new student's level. Afterwards, I ask the student what music they enjoy listening to and try incorporate it into lessons if possible. Finally we begin working through the Faber Piano Adventures book series before beginning to incoporate pieces that the student enjoys.
