Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to make a good raptor with students before working with a new student. I want to know what students want to get from the lesson with me. And I like to set a goal for the lessons with students.
And then I observe the student's playing first if he/she is not a beginner, and make a plan for each of student. This is because everyone has different body conditions, so I want to teach a students in a personalized way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently teaching the violin at Indiana University Bloomington Jacobs School of Music as an assistant instructor. I have 5-6 students each semester, and give the weekly private lesson.
Also, since 2011, I have had some experience to teach beginners, high school students who played at the high school band, and little kids.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private lesson at my place is available from August 2021. It is in Avon,IN. The hourly price is $60, and 30minutes price is $30.
How did you get started teaching?
If a students is a beginner, I start to teach with basic stuff first. It is okay if you can't read the music score at all. I can teach step by step all about the playing the violin.
If a student can play the violin, I start to teach by observing his/her playing. We can talk what we will work on at the future lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kids/ Adult beginners
High school students for their high school band
Middle/high school students who want to be a professional violinist

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Professionality and kindness.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to practice by themselves to learn the violin. I can let you know how to practice, but the practicing at least 3 times a week is very essential to learn.
