About

I am a classically trained violinist, but I enjoy all styles of music. I have taught for over 30 years in the south Indianapolis/Greenwood area. I really enjoy working with people to help them achieve their goals in regards to the violin.

She worked really well with our daughter when she was in preschool through 2nd grade. Great attitude and fun techniques with kids. She was also awesome at picking music that kept our daughter interested in practicing. Overall, it was a great experience and we would highly recommend her!

Diane is a kind and patient instructor. She is extremely knowledgeable in training the Suzuki method. My son started lessons with her in 3rd grade and continued until he transitioned to percussion in middle school. Diane fostered my sons love of music performance at a young age, and he was just part of the ISSMA Class B Marching Band State Champion. I highly recommend her as an instructor!

I took lessons with Diane for 5 years. She is a wonderful teacher. Diane can explain things in multiple ways until you thoroughly understand them. She uses her own violin to play things with you or demo something before you play it, so that you can understand what it should sound like. Diane is super friendly, easy going, and fun and absolutely loves teaching her students. She is willing to work with you to fit your needs and abilities and is very forgiving when it comes to having to reschedule or cancel a lesson due to other schedule conflicts. I loved having Diane as my violin instructor!

Frequently asked questions

The first lesson is a "meet and greet."  It gives me a chance to assess the student's interests and goals in regard to taking lessons.  It also gives the student (and parent, if present), the chance to see if they like my personality and teaching approach.  I make no initial assumptions about the student's ability level.  Learning an instrument, especially a difficult one like the violin, takes commitment and a positive attitude.  I make the journey fun and enjoyable along the way!

I have played the violin since I was 10 years old.  I participated in orchestra all through school, always first stand.  I continued by performing in the Butler University Symphony while attending college.  My teachers were members of the Indianapolis Symphony orchestra.  I also took two years of independent study with Ms. Hiroko Driver, who was taught by Dr. Shin'ichi Suzuki.  I am a member of my musical community, performing in orchestras, musicals, and special events around Indianapolis.
