Hey, I'm Ben, and I've played various instruments for about 20 years, but mainly focused on guitar. I am mostly self-taught, but I have a very strong understanding of music theory and its application across many genres, and I specialize in improvisation. I teach either out of my home studio in Valley Center, or at a school in East Wichita.

I typically start with a lesson to get to know someone and where they are, and to make sure I'm the right teacher for them. Then (typically with guitar students) we go over some theory and ear training, and how it relates to the fretboard. I find this approach to be much smarter and healthier in the long run instead of just learning chords, but we will work toward the results and goals you want.

I also do guitar setups and repairs, so you can be sure that your instrument will be well-maintained while learning, and I'm happy to impart some of that knowledge to students as well. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions on instruments too!
