Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I get a new student, it's important to realize that every one of them are different. First I like to get to know the students and get a gage at where they are in their musical journey and go from there, tailoring the material we use to fit their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing Guitar for ten years and have studied with one of the best classical guitarists in Chile and most recently one of the best guitarists in Kentucky. I am currrenly the worship director at Church 7:24 and working on a Worship Arts Degree at Liberty University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $15 for 30 minute sessions, $20 for 45 minute sessions, and $30 for hour sessions, though 45 minute and hour long lessons are rarely as productive as they might seem.
How did you get started teaching?
In the summer of 2018 I was looking to make some extra money and knew they loved to teach, not just guitar but anything, so I decided to give private guitar lessons a try and fell in love with it.
What types of students have you worked with?
While I have worked with varying students, I primarily teach children and teenagers, though I do work with late beginners as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Last week one of my student's parents posted a video on facebook of their daughter playing a song we had been working on at a talent show flawlessly. A very heartwarming moment.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
As you look for a teacher make sure you find someone who is willing to go the extra mile and become a friend and supporter not just a teacher. Also don't judge the teacher or style on the first lesson, give him or her at least a month.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Really feel free to ask any questions, weither you one of my studnets or not. I am always ready to help fellow music lovers.
