About
I love helping students achieve their goals and grow as musicians by providing musical training. I offer both voice and piano lessons to students of all ages, and incorporate music theory and ear training (vital skills for musicians) into all my lessons.
I've been teaching for over two years and have had the opportunity to gain experience by training over 50 students during this time.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know the student a bit first, and allow them to get to know me as well so that they are comfortable in their lessons. Then I begin by getting an evaluation of the student's past musical experience, their skill level, and what they are looking to gain from their lessons (whether it is preparing for an audition, beginning to learn the instrument for the first time, etc). After this I will form a personalized lesson plan or recommend books for use in the lessons and go from there. Each student is different so my teaching style varies by lesson!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Boyce College in Louisville, Kentucky with a degree in Worship and Music Studies.
I have over two years of experience as a private instructor and now have nearly 50 students currently enrolled.

How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching lessons professionally through Flying Hands School of Music in Louisville, though I'd taught several children throughout my high school and college years as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all children as young as three years old, as well as retirement age adults and everyone in between! I have worked with beginners, and those with up to 5 years experience.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I always enjoy seeing my students perform in recitals or at their school musicals. I enjoyed seeing one of my high school students perform in Little Shop of Horrors last fall and have been helping one of my middle school students prepare for her roles in both Peter Pan Jr. and Aladdin Jr.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Improving your skills as a musicians is so much more than a hobby or a path to musical success. It is also about self discipline and finding joy in the process of learning. It is certainly a worthwhile investment in self-growth!
