I teach beginning and intermediate classical piano, Christian worship music, improv and a smattering of popular music with a strong emphasis on piano technique--using hands and body correctly. I incorporate the Taubman Approach into piano lessons; budding beginners and intermediate students gain a solid foundation of correct technique--using hands efficiently and effectively to play with speed, agility and accuracy. Fatigue, pain and discomfort are NOT necessary to play great piano! I also love to pass on improvisation skills to students. We play with NO PAIN--great gains! Here's my bio: As a child, I ... I have a number of students who have become professional musicians, including Casey McPherson with Alpha Rev, Mandisa guitarist David May, and worship artist David Brymer. I have a music degree from Colorado University but I get just as much enjoyment from teaching a Mom how to play a children’s song, or from a child who learns their favorite Christmas song. In the end it’s about music and connecting with one another as a community. ... View Profile

Cincinnati Piano Lessons

(95 reviews)

Do you want to learn how to play piano? Then there are teachers in Cincinnati, OH that can handle you efficiently for lessons. Before you go on to look for a teacher, there are things you have to consider and they are as follows;

Find a Piano Teacher in Cincinnati
In everything you do that involves cash, you should be able to check the cost before diving into it. Although, this is the last question you should ask after you have seen a teacher, you should be able to have two or more good teachers in mind to be able to have a proper check on the cost of the lesson. Remember, getting a good teacher is one thing and the cost of the lessons is another. The cost of the service can be low but the cost of transportation can increase the total cost of the service. Some teachers collect less pay per lesson, but operate from a far place, which may even make their training costs increase whereas others collect low fees but operate within Cincinnati.

As a matter of fact, no matter how good your neighbour may be on the piano keyboard, it does not make him a professional. Of course, you should know that your neighbour teaching you how to play piano may be quite cheaper than getting the same from a qualified teacher. Though a professional teacher may charge higher rates you can be sure of getting a professional overview on the subject. It may also interest you to know that a professional teacher will add other values to teaching, such as career counselling, coaching, mentoring, psychology, advice and many other values. Thus, when considering the cost of learning piano, also put into consideration other values you may acquire in the process of learning from an expert. Remember, very few good things come cheap!

Teaching Location
Your location and your teacher’s location matter a lot in this service. You should also consider the closeness of your teacher to you. If you cannot get good teachers within your vicinity, proper arrangements on the best way to meet for the lesson should be considered. If possible, involve the teacher in this as he or she may have a better plan, and maybe a neutral place to meet.

Teaching Requirements
You should be able to get some things ready for the lesson. Some of those things are;

  • Saving some cash for your personal piano
  • Saving some cash for learning costs and expenses
  • Getting a sound piano
  • Psychological readiness
  • Being physically ready, etc.
Most of these requirements must be in place before any teacher can be engaged.

Teaching Duration You should be able to know from your teacher, once you have chosen one, how long the training is going to last before you can start playing well. This will enable you to plan yourself well and prepare for the training. Time planning is very essential as it can encroach into another activity of yours if not properly handled. Usually, the duration for proper piano training is 6 – 12 months or even a bit longer. For fast learners, they can even start playing complex songs below this time frame. Remember, experience as years goes by and with commitment, you can develop even more.
