LA Academy Of Music
About
Here at the LA Academy of Music we aim to provide quality vocal and piano instruction. We are committed to our mission of enhancing the world one musician at a time and the way we intend to execute that mission is by assuring results. Whether it be private vocal lessons, where we explore the essentials of vocal production including the diaphragm, breath, resonators, and other areas of the anatomy as it pertains to the voice that will enhance vocal technique, or private piano instruction in which we will focus on foundational music theory, sight reading, dynamics, musical expression, and other techniques.
What I enjoy most is the confidence that music encourages. When I am teaching and I reach a new level with my students, they start to form this confidence in what they're doing. It gives me a sense of pride. The beautiful part about it is that the confidence that they have helps in other areas of their lives.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe that each student is different, but in most cases the content that is being taught doesn't change (especially when teaching piano or voice), so my approach is to form an understanding of what my students know and understand about what they want to learn. Upon forming an understanding of the level my students are on I meet them on that level and build them up to the standard of where they should be. All while making the lesson as fun and enjoyable as possible!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently completing my senior year at Xavier University of Louisiana majoring in Music Liberal arts with a minor in education. Even before Xavier I have always had a passion for music since I was a young boy (specifically piano and voice). I've taught several summer camps over the years, tutored and mentored several kids, directed youth choirs and some adult choirs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer packages of 4, 12, and 24 lessons available in 30 minute or 1 hour intervals.
30 minute lessons: 4 - $95, 12 - $250, 24 - $500
1- hour lessons: 4 - $190, 12 - 490, 24 - $980
How did you get started teaching?
I think that teaching started for me when I was a student. I had teachers that would pick days and allow for us to come up and present a part of the lesson to the class. When my classmates would ask questions and I would respond, it allowed me to feel the power of teaching someone something new and how special it made me feel to be able to say that I had enhanced someone's knowledge in some way, shape, or form. Once I discovered my passion for music it only reassured me of my purpose for shaping and molding what will become some of the world's greatest artists.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of student types . I have worked with people from ages 4 to 75. I have worked with kids that have autism on different areas of the spectrum, I've taught a couple of blind kids, and also kids with disorders such as ADD, ADHD, and Dyslexia. I have also managed to teach kids with different types of social anxieties.
