About

I have 28 years of experience as a musician. I successfully auditioned at New England Conservatory to further my classical training; however, decided to enroll at Bridgewater State University instead. NEC was cost-prohibitive, and at BSU I still have private instruction from the world-renowned classical guitarist and NEC guitar professor, Jérôme Mouffe. As one of my students, you would be studying from a legacy of master guitarists. I know how to make music easy and fun no matter what your goals may be. I have a fluid and working knowledge of music theory and can adapt my teaching to any style of music you want to learn to play. After each lesson, I provide a detailed typed review of what was covered in the previous lesson, with what to work on, and extra credit to explore more topics for the next week (see an example of this in my photos).

It truly is a labor of love. I get so much out of teaching new musicians about the wonderful universe of music and by helping established musicians to learn even more.

Working with Ed has been a pleasure. Always passionate and patient Ed has taken time to better help my understanding of theory and the guitar. I have been attempting to learn guitar on my own for over ten years with no avail and it has been a complete relief to find a compassionate individual who knows their way and is willing to help.

Ed has met with my daughter for acoustic guitar lessons and he’s been a great instructor. My daughter has a lot of fun during the lessons and I’ve noticed a big confidence boost in her.

Ed is a very patient, knowledgeable teacher. Within the first few lessons I was able to make music instead of noise! Edward has a very comprehensive understanding of composition and music theory, and is able to teach it in a way that is understandable and not overwhelming. Very impressed!

Ed gave me fantastic lessons. He had many songs for me to learn at his disposal for my level of playing. He taught me a lot about music theory and songwriting. He was a very patient teacher and made concepts easy to understand and learn. Would recommend him to anyone trying to get better at guitar

    Frequently asked questions

First and foremost I ask the student about their goals with music. Then, I evaluate their level of familiarity with their instrument, and their existing music knowledge. From there I decide what aspects of my own core technique I believe could be helpful to the student. If the student has a particular song or piece in mind, I figure out what the best way to approach it with them is. Over the course of many lessons I start to see where the student excels and where they need work, and I focus on helping them get better by doing things they enjoy.

Over 20 years of being a dedicated musician. Currently a Music major at BHCC with a 4.3 GPA, studying to either teach in schools or compose professionally.

I charge in intervals of half hours. An hour lesson is suggested, and there is more value in getting an hour, as I charge less for the 2nd half-hour. If there is significant travel it may require an additional charge. I may suggest books for the student to purchase, but this is not mandatory.

I have a. variety of pricing options available for different types of lessons, and deals for booking in advance. More info here: https://edw1se.wixsite.com/edw1se/service-page/private-music-lessons?referral=service_list_widget

After teaching many of my friends about their instruments I realized, and was told by them that I would be a great music teacher. Since then I've been advertising my services online here and there, and getting hired for private lessons. I was also contracted by a music lessons agency, however they were not effective in finding me many students.

Mostly adolescent - middle age range, but I am comfortable with teaching children and seniors as well. I believe any age can learn, even young as long as they have an instrument scaled to their hand size.

Getting my brand new Gibson J-15 acoustic guitar. Continuing my education.

Find someone you think you can bond with and have similar music tastes to. That would be ideal, though not necessary in my case!

Their goals and what style they want to play. I used many years of guitar practice on styles of music that I wound up not wanting to perform anymore.
