It’s all good. But I love it when a student finally breaks through on a chord, riff, songs he had been struggling with, getting frustrated, ready to quit —- then all he or she cracks a little smile. That’s the best. And i’m learning just as much from the student.
I’ve played guitar and bass 40 years and i’m just beginning. There’s no end to it, ask Les Paul, Slash, Julien Bream...I want to learn and help my students learn, without necessarily having to learn to read music. If a student is broke one week, the lesson goes on. Pay me when you can. I try to keep it simple. Focus on the basics. We use the same song books. We move ahead at his/her pace. If it’s a live in person session, lunch is on me. (Post Cobid19)...until then can we work over ZOOM or Skype. I want a long detailed Spotify from the student. Once we get some basics mastered, we will work meticulously to a song of his/her choice. I will answer truthfully any question about anything. I am starting a podcast and every student has an open invitation to appear on it, music or just talk. Thanks 🙏.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Say hi.... Develop a relationship that works if possible. With a lot of humor. No charge no commitment after first meeting. Find out what he/she mostly ants to learn, and how they learn best. I am a former middle school teacher and life coach, who believes heartily in my LISTENING more than talking. We will go at students best pace. Mostly I hope we both learn a lot, and have a lot of “Fun,Fun,Fun.” Home recording studio is available. As is songwriting training. Keep a song constantly in your head and heart. I am very flexible on this. But I try to be among the lowest in my ( HanoverMass) area. A typical weekly price is $25/ for 40 minutes.
