About
My passion for music has led me to over 25 years of teaching experience. My philosophy of music is very simple...Making Music Fun & Enjoyable! It is important to get a good grasp of fundamentals but it doesn't have to be boring. I incorporate new & popular music to ensure lessons are fun & educational at the same time. Lessons are taught using proven traditional methods. I develop a personalized plan for each student to ensure that the student is engaged and enjoys learning. In 2022 I relocated from Boston to North Carolina where I continue to teach piano online via FaceTime & Zoom. I retained all my students when I moved and continue to fill open slots with online students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to talk to the student about any prior experience with music. I always ask why they decided to take piano lessons. I think it's important to understand why they want to play the piano so I can best match my teaching style & choose materials that will best suit them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20+ years of private & group piano teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30.00 per 30 minute lesson
$54.00 per 60 minute lesson
How did you get started teaching?
After I graduated college I went to work for Baldwin Piano & Organ company selling pianos & teaching group piano & organ classes. It was so much fun I eventually opened my own piano studio.
What types of students have you worked with?
I teach students from 6-86 that are looking to enjoy playing the piano.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I added a few Summer Workshops this year that were 100% online. My students loved it! We played music games, explored famous composers & I had some high school students do presentations on popular music composers. We even did a segment on cartoons & commercials with classical music. Everyone loved it so much we are adding them into the Academic year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Take time to talk to the teacher. You have to like your teacher. A piano teacher should be someone that has fun, is energetic, and has a personality that encourages learning. A good teacher should combine solid piano theory & technic with fun!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The biggest question you should ask yourself is do you & the student have time to take lessons & practice everyday. The most successful students are those where the parents are involved in daily practice. In the beginning it's helping students practice but as years pass parents are needed to encourage & praise their accomplishments. Piano lessons are a big time commitment but worth every minute.
