Guitar Lessons With Lexi Havlin
About
I've been teaching guitar to all different levels and ages for over 10 years now. I have a degree in Guitar Performace from Berklee College of Music and have toured professionally for many years, most notably as the lead guitarist for award-winning world music band Zili Misik. I've also played with indie rock bands. I occassionally play solo sets with my effect pedals and love experimenting with sound and visuals. Some styles that I specialize in are: acoustic fingerpicking, electric lead soloing, West African hi-life style, jazz and folk.
I love teaching and have worked with beginners, intermediate and advanced students ages 4-60. In addition to teaching guitar, I also love to inspire students to create music videos, write their own songs, record simple tracks and design album artwork. I prefer to teach students to find their own creativity versus learning a lot of covers (although I'm always happy to teach a student a few of their favorite cover songs). I have an extensive theory and harmony background and love to teach students how to read music, play scales (which lead to improvising/soloing), and to play chords in different inversions.
