Hi I’m Ben and I love music and sharing my passion for music with my students! I’m a graduate of the Berklee College of Music Class of 2016 and I have over 12 years of teaching experience. I tailor each lesson to the individual but I generally spend half the lesson on the more technical side of the instrument and the other half on playing to music (preferably music that the student likes or has chosen).

In my teaching, I fuse my classical training by Russian cello masters with innovative approaches including the Suzuki method and my own “Plug-and-Play” method. Building on decades of experience teaching all age groups, from beginners to advanced cellists, I always work with each student on the individual level, making mastering the cello manageable and fun. I focus on musicianship, proper ergonomic handling of the instrument, discipline, and self-discovery. To maximize the engagement and effectiveness of each lesson, I use audio and video equipment to document important parts of the session to be reviewed at home. I also utilize the power of ...

Keith H. says, "I never thought at the start of this journey that I'd be playing classical music on a mandolin, but often, it really fits, and in general, it's helped to develop a kind of musicianship that I find I can apply to anything else I want to play. Adam is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor about music and music history. He supports a number of group projects (focusing on several different styles including classical, Celtic, and Klezmer) for students, which are an excellent way to learn." Read more

Reviews for Chelsea drum lessons

Recent success stories from people in the Chelsea area.
John B.
I am a 74 year old drummer who took lessons in high school and never played for 50 years until 3 years ago. Even though it instantly came back to me I felt that something was missing. When I contacted Tony on the first lesson he asked me what I would like to accomplish if he were to teach me. I asked him to start with the basics as though I had never played before. He did, he not only had me doing basic rudiments he coached me on bringing my confidence level up, taught me how to tune my drums properly, and to this date im playing with much more confidence and my playing ability has greatly improved because of Tony's ability to teach and recognize my playing problems. Even though I now play in a band I will be staying with tony for drum lessons and I highly recommend him to anyone who is either a beginner or accomplished drummer. He's great and his personalty and demeanor is that of a professional.
